    Southwest Technology Center provides high-quality technical training to local and area high school students, adults and technical support to businesses and industries.
The 63,000 square foot, $5 million facility was opened in September, 1995. Since its opening another two buildings have been built to the north of the center that houses the center's maintenance shops, simulator maintenance technician and construction trades programs. Additionally, the center leases a 20,000 square foot hangar at the Altus Municipal Airport from the city of Altus to house the aviation and aerospace technology program.
The center provides full-time training to the communities of Altus, Blair, Duke, Eldorado, Granite, Navajo and Olustee offering programs free of charge to junior and senior students in high school. When space is available, adults may be enrolled on a tuition basis.
    Training programs offered include automotive technology; aviation and aerospace technology; business and computer technology with sub programs in administrative services, in accounting, administrative assistant and medical information services; construction trades; electronics technology; health science technology; practical nursing, networking technology and PC repair; occupational services; and simulator maintenance technology In addition to its full-time programs, the center provides business and industry services in many areas such as adult training and development, short-term adult training, bid assistance, small business management training, and industry specific training.
    The center also provides student services, operates an educational enhancement center, assists with financial aid for post-secondary students and provides career counseling and assessment.
Two other educational /training related agencies are also located on campus and operate out of the center's facilities. An alternative school cooperative, established between SWTC and its smaller partner schools Blair, Duke, Eldorado, Granite, Navajo and Olustee; and, the Personal Options With Employment Results (POWER) operates career services for clients in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.
