Construction
Trades prepares students to work in the growing construction field. Students learn everything needed to build a
house from the foundation to the front door.
This program is designed so student can actually perform all steps
required on a building project.
Projects include all aspects of brick masonry, residential and
commercial carpentry electrical wiring and cabinet making. •
Students are given the opportunity to obtain credentials through Oklahoma
Department of Vocational and Technical Education. •
College Credit is available through Western Oklahoma State College. •
Construction Trades is a part of the Engineering & Technology Career
Cluster. |
Suggested
prerequisites are: Algebra I. Geometry English I & II |
High
priority is placed on attendance. Reliability in the work
place is the single most valued employee trait in today’s job market. Punctuality is a component of attendance
and equally important. |

Opportunities

Students
specializing in the Electricity portion of the program will have the
opportunity to have workplace experience working with licensed electricians. Other
opportunities for OJT are available for all students. |

electricians and carpenters to be among the fastest growing jobs through the
year 2010. •
Employment in this field requires working in-doors and out of doors during
various weather conditions •
Employment is seasonal in nature. |
